Ever since I was a young girl, I’ve been in love with design. I was the girl with the “cool bedroom,” which I decorated with flair. My friends—my first audience—were enchanted, and we’d spend hours there, playing records and dancing.
Early on I was smitten with architecture—corbels and moldings, blueprints and renderings, function and movement. As a student in the New York School of Interior Design, I took great joy in assembling elements to achieve a specific function, almost like a puzzle. I began designing kitchens for inside the home and outdoor spaces, too, as well as whole-house interiors.
Ever since those days with my friends, I never stopped dancing, and I began to see common areas between choreography and design. Both require dedication, grace and a keen aesthetic eye. Both should be approached with a sense of fun. These are the qualities my clients are seeking when they entrust me with designing their heart’s-desire kitchen.
